Chrysler Canada: Dodge Driver Jason Hathaway Wins at Barrie Speedway; Sets Up Four-Way Battle For Series’ Championship Heading Into Season’s Last Race

  • Eight of Top 10 spots in Barrie won by Dodge drivers
  • Dodge drivers hold nine of the Top 10 spots in Series’ points standings going into final race
  • Top 4 spots dominated by Dodge drivers – and separated by just 35 points
September 8, 2013 , Windsor, Ontario -  A win by Dodge driver Jason Hathaway at Barrie Speedway this past weekend, has setup an exciting four-way battle between Dodge drivers for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 Championship.

The penultimate race of the 2013 season, the Hudco Electric Supply 300 presented by G-Oil, was postponed until Sunday thanks to weekend rain. When the checkered flag finally flew, eight of the Top 10 finishers were Dodge drivers, with Hathaway and his No. 3 Snap-On Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge leading the charge.

Hathaway took the race lead away from rival, fellow Dodge driver, and points leader D.J. Kennington just 19 laps before the end of the 303-lap event.

The win – his second this season and third in his career - secured Hathaway a third place spot in the Series’ points standings behind Scott Steckly in the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge and Kennington in his No. 17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors Dodge.

A second place finish in this eleventh round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series hasn’t phased Kennington though, who still leads the overall Championship chase by five points over Steckly heading into the final race of the season.

“We picked up a couple points today and now we’re heading to Kawartha looking to win that one and win a championship” he said.

Dodge/Mopar Quick Three – 1st: Jason Hathaway; No. 3 Snap-On Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge
Dodge/Mopar Quick Three – 2nd: D.J. Kennington; No. 17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors Dodge
Dodge/Mopar Quick Three – 3rd: Scott Steckly; No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge
