December 1, 2011 , Windsor, Ontario -  Chrysler Canada employees and the CAW at the Windsor Assembly Plant helped make it a very happy holiday season for families in need by undertaking the largest donation of toys collected in Windsor-Essex County for the 2011 Sparky’s Toy Drive.

Today, members of the Windsor Fire Department, including “Sparky the Fire Dog”, Salvation Army representatives and CAW members were on hand to help pick up hundreds of toys valued at over $9,000 in four full Dodge Grand Caravans outside the Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario. This marks the biggest donation to date and the ninth-straight-year the Company has participated in Sparky’s Toy Drive.

“Not long ago, our Company went through a difficult period and the local community stuck by us, so it is extremely rewarding for all of us to give back to the community, especially during the holiday season,” said Marcel Breault, Plant Manager, Windsor Assembly. “On top of the $1.1 million donation to the United Way announced just last month, the toy drive is another way our employees have pitched in to help those in need.”

Over the past three years, Windsor Assembly Plant employees have donated more than 35 minivans full of toys valued at nearly $30,000 for over 3,000 children from 1,200 registered families in need during this time of year. The toys will begin to be distributed starting December 6 through December 24.

The Windsor-built Dodge Grand Caravan remains the Country’s best-selling minivan for more than 27 years, with 13 million minivans sold worldwide. The all-new, award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine provides best-in-class 283 horsepower and improved fuel economy of 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres (36 mpg). The 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan also has improved ride and handling, enhanced safety features, an all-new premium interior and better versatility, all at a significant value with a starting price of $27,995. The segment-exclusive new Super Stow ‘n Go seating remains the gold standard of the industry offering larger and more comfortable seating. The Dodge Grand Caravan is the perfect vehicle for consumers of any age or family situation.
